Good, Bad, and Ugly 10/5/20

Welcome to October folks, here’s a quick rundown of the week that was.

The Good

  • The Buffalo Bills, 4-0 with a 2 game lead on the Patriots
  • Tom Brady – 5 TDs against the Chargers, old man still has it
  • Welcome to the NFL Joe Burrow, 1st win this weekend!
  • Photo finish at the Preakness, 5th filly to ever win. Congratulations Swiss Skydiver!
  • Congratulations to Tampa Bay winning the Stanley Cup
  • Longevity rewarded – Sue Bird setting a WNBA finals record with 16 assists near the age of 40
  • Good weekend of college football, Pac 12 is back
  • The Miami Marlins sweeping the Cubs at Wrigley Field to advance to the NLDS, just an amazing story
  • The Doc Rivers hire – Is it actually a good hire for the Sixers, conflicted on this one, time will tell

The Bad

  • Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are co-coaches for the Nets? Is Steve Nash nothing more than a puppet to these guys?
  • Stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cam Newton coming down with Covid-19. It’s still very real folks, be vigilant.
  • The Williams sisters showing their age. 40 year old Venus losing in the first round at the French for the 3rd year in a row. 38 year old Serena being forced to withdraw with an Achilles injury. The window is slowly closing for these all time greats.
  • Bill O’Brien fired after 4 games, the Texans have had a difficult schedule but going nowhere fast.
  • Carlos Correa – good on you for advancing in the MLB postseason. Being indignant and an arrogant jerk won’t win you any fans. Just shut up!
  • RIP Bob Gibson – one of the all-time greats

The Ugly

  • Manchester United and Liverpool losing to Tottenham and Aston Villa over the weekend by 5 goals each.
  • New York football – The Giants and Jets are difficult to watch, but picking against them is good advice for suicide pools!
  • Record low ratings for the NBA Finals – is this a backlash against social activism or just hard to watch games without fans?
  • Cancellation of Steelers – Titans with a covid outbreak for the Titans
  • The NFC East – nuff said

What’s on Tap

  • The ALDS and NLDS get into full swing
  • French Open Champions will be crowned
  • F1 returns this week in Germany
