30 years – that’s a long time

To remain relevant in your industry and at the top of your game for over 30 years is remarkable. Last Wednesday, AEW celebrated the legendary career of one Christopher Irvine aka Chris Jericho. Over the span of his career Jericho has spawned multiple gimmicks that are endearing to the hearts of wrestling fans such as: Lionheart, Conspiracy Theory Jericho, Y2J, the Best in the World at what he does, the Painmaker, and now currently as Le Champion. Additionally he has gotten certain ridiculous storylines mass appeal such as Ralphus (an unathletic, nearly toothless security guard), a list of 1004 wrestling holds, a jacket with more lights than a Christmas tree, a list for misbehaving wrestlers while wearing a scarf, and champagne celebrations. Even if you don’t like his most recent work in AEW, Jericho was carrying the company on his back in its early stage of existence. To say that Chris Jericho has not made a significant contribution to the wrestling industry would be doing yourself a huge disservice.

Unlike many others in the industry, Jericho has branched out to several different avenues to make himself mainstream. As the lead singer of the band Fozzy, Jericho is able to take sabbaticals away from wrestling to recharge his batteries. You may question the band and its talent, but it is still remarkable to watch a wrestling event and seeing the fans sing Judas, Jericho’s theme song and one of Fozzy’s hits. Besides the band, Jericho also has a weekly podcast, hosts the Rock of Jericho on SiriusXM, has hosted game shows, appeared in a few movies and been a panelist on several shows as well. If there is a word to describe Jericho, it is busy.

Let’s take the Gift of Jericho and drink it in man. If not, would you please shut the hell up you stupid idiot because you just made the list for not acknowledging he is the best in the world at what he does. And to celebrate his greatness, take a toast with a little bit of the bubbly because if you’re a true Jerichoholic after watching Y2J you will never, e-e-e-e-e-e-ver be the same again! That paragraph right there is an ode to the legacy of Chris Jericho as all those sentences are made of Jericho’s catchphrases that have endured the test of time. It is remarkable that Jericho is able to reinvent himself in so many different ways. So cheers to Le Champion, Chris Jericho as I quote Soul Train Jones in saying that “I may not know what a goat is, but Chris Jericho is the greatest of all times.”
