This may be a week late, but it’s good to see golf and NASCAR back in action. Golf is taking some baby steps with some charity matches which is fine and shows we are not that far away. Personally, I’m anxiously looking forward to watching Tiger and Peyton vs Phil and TB12. What’s even better is tournaments will be back up and running in June. Sure it’s still weird that there are no crowds, but we’re headed in the right direction.
NASCAR’s return is intriguing to me. I’ve never really been a big fan, but here is a golden opportunity for the sport to increase its fanbase. Live racing sure beats the virtual thing, but NASCAR made attempts to keep themselves relevant. Last week I did watch the race over golf because the race meant more than a charity match. As a fan of Formula 1, auto racing is very enjoyable to me. So to watch a form of racing was pretty cool. I think this weekend I’ll give it a shot as well. It’s a positive I can take from this whole pandemic is that it gives exposure to different sports that I probably wouldn’t normally watch.
So as more leagues and sports continue to open up, let’s remember that we’re not out of the woods yet. However as long as we gets these little wins combined with the efforts of other sports such as tennis, we’ll be back in the swing of things too!
